Free charity training session! A smarter way to support marathon fundraisers

Posted by Sarah on 22/01/2026
This webinar offers practical support for small charities who want their marathon runners to raise more, stay well, and finish strong.

If you’re supporting runners who are running marathons for you this spring  and you’re not much of a runner yourself this session is for you.

  • You want your runners to succeed.
  • You need them to raise good money.
  • You probably don’t have the time, expertise, or headspace to support them properly.

And getting it wrong can have unfortunate consequences.

Financial
Runners who get injured, and especially those who feel unsupported, raise less or drop out altogether.

Reputational
A poor runner experience reflects badly on your charity and damages long-term relationships.

Opportunity
Many charities don't know how to go the extra mile  – losing highly engaged runners (and their networks) as future donors.

This short, practical webinar will give you some actions to avoid those pitfalls, without adding to your workload.

What you’ll take away

  • Why runners lose confidence – and how to intervene early.
  • How to support runners effectively without becoming a running expert.
  • How better support leads to much higher fundraising totals.
  • How to turn one-off runners into your charity's best donors.

The focus is particularly on London Marathon runners, but the principles apply to any physical challenge, especially running events.

About your host:

Sarah Jones is a running coach, a former small-charity CEO, and a brilliant Blumer.

She has 15 marathons and 3 ultras to her name. For half of these (including most of her 7 London marathons) she's had a charity place with a range of charities. She knows first-hand what it's like to face a scary minimum sponsorship target, an ambitious training plan and manage all this alongside a full-time job.

With 14 years leading a small charity and now coaching runners directly, Sarah understands the pressures charities face when supporting challenge fundraisers with limited resources.
