Purpose of the Role

The Fred Hollows Foundation seeks a skilled consultant to help strengthen its philanthropic/institutional partnerships with the trusts and foundations in the UK and Europe. This is a delivery focused- role, working closely with The Foundation’s UK office to build and convert a strong prospect pipeline, submit high-quality funding proposals and secure grant funding from trusts and foundations. For this purpose, the consultant will be responsible for prospect development, research, proposal preparation, pipeline development, and stakeholder coordination to advance high-value opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Prospect Research & Pipeline Development

• Identify and profile UK and European-based trusts, foundations, and relevant intermediaries aligned with our mission and strategic funding priorities.
• Develop a qualified prospect pipeline (minimum 30–50 prospects), segmented by priority and mapped against funding interests, capacity, and alignment.
• Develop cultivation strategies and timelines for each priority prospect.

Proposal Development

• Develop (draft and adapt) compelling proposals, and cases for support in collaboration with program and fundraising teams, tailored to institutional funders.

• Collaborate and coordinate engagement and proposal submissions across relevant internal teams (Strategic Initiatives, Trachoma, Corporate, UK Relationship Managers) to source content and budgets.

CRM and Reporting

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all prospects, proposals, and funder interactions in The Foundation’s systems (i.e. CRM and Grants Management System)
• Produce regular reports to track pipeline progress and funding performance.

Funder Engagement

• Support cultivation and stewardship plans and funder communications, including reporting coordination and relationship mapping.
• Advise on cultivation approaches including events, briefings, and funder journeys.

Process & Systems Support

• Help operationalize and standardise tools and processes for trust and foundation engagement, including templates, timelines, and workflows.

Measurements of Success:

Within the 6-month consultancy, success will be measured by:

1.      Qualified Prospect Pipeline Developed:

·       A minimum of 30–50 UK/European-based prospects identified and profiled, including at least 10 Tier 1 funders with a clear cultivation path.

·       Pipeline documented and approved by internal stakeholders.

2.      Proposal Activity

·       At least 5–8 tailored proposals or Case for Support submitted to high-value prospects.

·       Pipeline of proposals in development for future submission aligned to Foundation priorities.

3.      Funding Progress

·       At least £250,000–£500,000 in funding opportunities actively progressed, including renewals or new submissions (stretch target, not performance-linked).

4.      Internal Alignment and Tools

·       Development or refinement of tools/processes for tracking and coordinating trust and foundation engagement across the UK team.

·       CRM usage standardised and reporting mechanisms in place.

5.      Knowledge Transfer

·       Key insights, research, and funder intel documented and shared with the wider team to support continuity and long-term growth.

Person Specification

• Demonstrated experience securing six-figure trust and foundation grant income, ideally in an international development, health, or systems-strengthening context
• Excellent written communication skills with the ability to translate technical or programmatic language into compelling funding proposals
• Highly organised and able to coordinate across multiple teams and priorities
• Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, start-up style environment within a global organisation
• Familiarity with CRM systems

We are a new charity which has just published an innovative, free app named VigilAuntie in The App Store & Googlre Play. Developed under the guidance of our Patron Lord John Stevens, former Chief of the Metropolitan Police, it is designed to protect women and girls from assault. We seek help in reaching out to press, TV, radio & influencers to spread awareness and promote downloads. The first press release is written but not yet published, so the role is more about getting coverage than drafting copy, although follow-up releases will be needed.

We are a small CIC which started in August 2024.  We are completing our first year of trading (just 50-100 transactions) and want somebody to file our first year accounts.  We also want advice on how to manage our finances proportionately in the future and may need additional help doing this.

These services will be supported by commercial income streams such as event rentals, craft fairs and markets, and commercial craft events/workshops, allowing us to provide subsidised or free activities to underserved and marginalised groups.

The CIC will offer:

• Creative Workshops: Hands-on sessions designed for self-expression, skill-building, and mental health support. Themes include seasonal crafts (e.g., wreath-making, Easter decorations), art therapy, upcycling projects, and sewing workshops.

• Rental Spaces for Creatives: Affordable, flexible spaces for local artists, crafters, and small business owners to work, teach, or collaborate.

• Community Markets and Events: Makers' markets and craft fairs in Ashington and the wider area (mainly South East Northumberland) showcase local talent while fostering community interaction.

We require 10 acres of land to build a safe and secure enviroment for the survival of Butterflies and makimg this 10 acre site to be a Butterfly Habitat which will not only support Butterflies but also Moths and tens of thousands of insects.

We will planting in excess of 40,000 plants, flowers, shrubs small trees and several types of grass, and seeds.

This project is costing  £270, 000 and we have a sponsor who is offering 90% of these costs  subject to an agreement. So we need to raise 10% of the project costs  £30,000.

Our project will be to build on 10 acres of agriculture land a home and safe place for Butterflies offering them shelter and as much safe security as we can possible provide, from known predator.

Sir David Attenborough has clearly stated as have many enviromenal institutions the future of the British Butterfly is bleak and that possibly our Butterflies will become extinct within the next 10 / 15 years.                       

We have made great efforts in raising funds, I have mailed over 500 requests for finacial support sending out our package promotion packs and completing 60 / 70 funding applications on line, some kind responses but no funding.

So we require somebody to raise £30,000 which will allow us to start this project. 

We seek support to find donors who are most likely to consider our application for funding, and specifically those who will support this type of education focus.

We are Age UK East London, and looking for additional capacity in our small fundraising team for three major applications in Q2 and Q3.

We are looking for a Data Manager to manage our fundraising platfrom, Raisers Edge. Key responsibilities are day to day data inputting, running reports, liaising with the fundraising team to ensure that our database is up to date, with comprehensive records that will support donor engagement.

Our vibrant and small charity provides grants to vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people so that they can access recreational activities in their local community. We are looking for someone with experience in writing successful bids to secure funding to allow us to meet the needs of more children and young people as we expand our work into an additional County.

Cancer52 is the voice of over 110 member charities which support people with rare and less common cancers. Our charitable objective is to promote and protect the health of people with rare and less common cancers:
(a) Promoting understanding, awareness and research about rare and less common cancers
(b) acting as a collective voice and advocating for the needs of individuals affected by a rare or less common cancer

I am looking for an experienced project manager to assist me with my day to day activities at Richard House Children's Hospice in London's Docklands. I would anticipate that this will be a 3 month contract to begin with, but with the potential for an extension. Primary responsibilites will include liasing with marketing agencies, donors, event organisation and day to day contact with our 6 shops.

Created by and for Members we provide training peer support. best practice, resources and networking initiatives that enable our Members to give children and young people a dynamic, exciting and innovative library  experience and amplify their voices.

We've secured funding to develop and deliver an online learning module, toolkit and resources for libraries, to be delivered by the end of the year. We're keen to find someone who can help us with producing / project management. There shouldn't be any technical requirement (as we think we have a learning platform in place) and all learning content / materials will be developed by an expert partner (who are TBC).

We are looking for a grant writer who can review, re-write or refine our application to raise funds to scale our community radio station - The Smallholder Farmers Rural Radio - to reach 5 million smallholder farmer listeners in the South Eastern Region of Nigeria.

We have identified some funding organizations (The Audacious Project; The Agency Fund etc) we will like to approach, but we feel our application is not strong enough to submit applications.  We want a cost effective, experienced grant writer etc, who can review our initial application and then submit it to at least one funder initially.  We may also commission them to help with subsequent applications.  

About Smallholders Farmers Rural Radio

Smallholders Farmers Rural Radio was established in 2007 with support from UNESCO International Program for the Development of Communication (IPDC). Since its inception, the rural radio station designs and broadcasts 10 hours per day sustainable agricultural management, environmental conservation and market information in the local Igbo Language reaching an estimated 250,000 rural listeners living in 3 local government areas of Imo State, Nigeria. The radio educational program has enabled 65% of our listening farmer’s increase their agricultural yield by 50% and household income by 40%.

We are seeking funds to scale the radio station from its capacity to reach 250,000 listeners living in 3 local government areas of Imo State, to reach approximately, 4.5 million small farmers listeners in the entire 27 local government areas of Imo State. That is to add an additional 24 local governments within the radio station’s coverage range. These 4.5 million farmers will have access to timely, relevant, and well-adapted educational radio programs in agriculture, environmental management and commodity prices which will boost their output and income by 50% and 40% respectively within the 6 months. 

We seek to procure and install new studio, field broadcast and broadcast center equipment to achieve total coverage of Imo State. Funds being requested will also be used to secure a 5 years renewable commercial radio broadcast license from the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC). Furthermore, the funding will be used to recruit and train 8 additional smallholder farmers to work in the radio station as correspondents/broadcasters and establish 200 new Smallholder Farmer Listener Clubs in the new coverage communities. This is in addition to the 195 clubs; we have presently, bringing our listener clubs to a total of 395.

The rural radio, designs and broadcasts, 10 hours daily agriculture, environment, land access, market information and other rural development programs in the local Igbo Language reaching an estimated  250,000 rural farmer listeners living in 3 local government areas of Imo State, Nigeria.

The educational radio information enables small farmers acquire contemporary agricultural and environmental management techniques, receive daily market information, advertise their farm products, and learn critical business skills. Farmers also utilizes daily broadcast information to decide what to produce, when to produce, how to produce and for whom to produce, in the short-term boosting their yields and income and in the long-term becoming experts in their chosen crop and livestock production.

The role requires a hands-on approach to fundraising, data gathering, operations, volunteer supervision, communication with beneficiaries and supporters: responsible for improving operational efficiency, developing digital and IT processes, stewarding relationships and supporting growth and sustainability.

We need an experienced charity worker with strong IT and communication skills, capable of managing digital tools and CRM systems, an independent worker , skilled in stakeholder relationships and adept at juggling multiple priorities as part of a small team.

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Independent Examiner to reviewour charity accounts prepared under the Charity SORP framework. The charity's income is under £500,000, and we require a thorough and timely examination in compliance with UK charity regulations.

Key Requirements:

✅ Professional Qualification – Must be a member of a recognised accountancy body and have relevant experience in charity accounting.
✅ Charity SORP Expertise – Strong understanding of the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP)and UK charity financial reporting requirements.
✅ Efficient & Timely Delivery – Ability to complete the review within one month of engagement.

H&F Giving Campaign Launch & Management– April/May – Oct/Nov 2025
We are looking for a specialist to help us shape and launch our upcoming Fundraising Campaign, which will follow from our report “Building a strong and connected community: Identifying needs in Hammersmith and Fulham - February 2025”.

This report summarises key needs in the borough, and we are currently reviewing the findings in line with our strategic discussions and formulating an action plan internally. The report has been soft launched to the community with a formal launch planned for May/June. Our plan is to promote and disseminate some of its key findings; and most critically to articulate a “call to action” or “ask” (via social media and events) that will help us raise funds to support our mission, which we expect to deliver in a campaign over the summer, launched at an event in early June. 

Funds available
A maximum of £25,000 (inclusive of VAT) for your work over 6 months. 
In addition, H&F Giving has earmarked a budget of between £15,000 and £25,000 to pay for specific items such as organising and catering at events or focus groups, printing of materials, additional design costs if justified, etc. We will also look to access pro bono support for certain elements to support the campaign.

We are looking for a Charity Finance Director with gravitas and strong experience of preparing statutory accounts, planning for and supporting the year end audit, preparing a budget and management accounts and attending Board meetings.  We require strong knowledge of SORP and preparation of the SOFA and all aspects of the accounts, including those of a wholly owned trading subsidiary of a charity and the VAT, Gift Aid and tax or other implications of being a charity.  Ideally we are looking for a Chartered Accountant and would prefer that they are at least some of the time based at our head office in Leatherhead, Surrey.  Our Finance Director is on long term medical leave and our year end is in June.  We are currently in the middle of the budget process and require someone who can hit the ground running and support us for a short term period from April - October 2025, with the potential to possibly extend this.

We are a mid-sized charity with an income of £5.6 million. Our head office is based in Leatherhead, Surrey and we have staff across the country supporting families with a terminally ill child.  We have a total of just over 100 staff.

We are open to a flexible arrangement that could be part time initially however we will require more time during the July-September period when we are preparing the year end accounts and are getting ready for the audit.

We have a plan for modernising our finance system and processes, and need additional capacity to enable this to be done. We would like an experienced finance professional, who is used to stepping into an interim role picking up new systems with limited support and guidance, to be able to work alongside our Finance Manager to progress improvement projects. These will include new applications (e.g. online payment cards system, a new BACS implementation) alongside setting up new budget management and invoice approval systems on our accounts system, X-ledger (similar to Xero).

We are looking for an experienced Arts fundraiser for an hour or two to advice on how to find matched funding for a project.  
This project uses portrait painting as a means of suicide prevention in vulnerable groups and has twice been funded by ACE. The third application is now being prepared but we are having difficulty in finding match funding/sponsorship. Workshops are held around the country, led by experienced artists often with mental health support experience. Open calls on Instagram also invite submissions. No previous experience is required, taking part is the most important thing. Exhibitions have been held in real time and on Instagram. To date 420 portraits have been submitted. 

Maa Shanti supports South Asian mothers who are impacted by domestic abuse.

We are looking for an interim Director to start immediately while we recruit for the full time post.  We have a team of five currently in place covering all the key areas but we need somebody with experience of leading a small charity to provide oversight, keep things ticking over and fill in the gaps as necessary.  

We anticipate the role taking 2 days a week for 2 or 3 months.  We would require the candidate to spend some time in our London office but there is scope for homeworking too

Website redesign

We're refreshing our purpose, key messages, colour palette and font this month.

Keen to use this as a chance to refresh a bland looking website with a redesign, editing of content etc.

Staff time is available to support and provide content and copy.

We have a small budget to allocate to this.

Not a tight timeline for this but ideally completed end of April.

Background:

Kentish Town City Farm is a local charity that helps city people connect with animals, nature and the environment. The farm is situated on a four-acre site, alongside two railway lines in the inner London Borough of Camden. There are animal pasture areas, community gardens, a wildlife pond, and a riding arena which is presently being redeveloped.  Established in 1972, it was the UK’s first city farm.

Bringing people together to care for, relax in and learn about the natural world has been the Farm’s mission for 50 years. We deliver our mission through three key priority areas:  

1. Connection with natural environment

We provide a safe, welcoming space with farmyard animals, community gardens and wildlife habitat for people to connect with the natural world through visits, volunteering and events -attracting over 30,000 visitors per year.

2. Learning 

We provide a range of educational and learning opportunities through children and young people’s activities, school visits, work experience, clubs, workshops and training opportunities. People can learn about sustainability, biodiversity, heritage arts and crafts, gardening, cooking - and of course animal welfare through workshops and training opportunities.

3. Health and Wellbeing

We improve people’s health and wellbeing by bringing people together to reduce isolation/provide positive opportunities: Young Farmers, easter and summer playschemes; Gardening Club, pottery sessions; Riding for the Disabled; Art Therapy; therapeutic pottery; community payback scheme.

We currently have 6 dedicated trustees, who wish to devote an afternoon to improving our governance.   The CEO will also attend.

Brief:

We are looking for a facilitator to lead our training day (Date and Time: 16 March, 12-5pm; Venue: Kentish Town City Farm) and cover the following topics:

1. Understanding our public benefit: Understanding the Farm’s purposes as defined by our Articles;  be able to explain how all of the charity’s activities are intended to further or support its purposes and understand how the charity benefits the public by carrying out its activities. 

 We feel this will set the context well. 

2. Accountability: To charity law, to members. Accountability within the charity.   

This will help us understand our roles and responsibilities.

3. Planning for Success and Impact

This will form the heart of the workshop - a space to consider how trustees can ensure that our Farm is having the greatest impact possible.

In addition to the above, we want to spend some of the afternoon (30 minutes max) on a trustee skills audit and recruitment plan.  This can be facilitated by the CEO.
