Freelancers for charities

Blume - your new fundraising department

By Alexander Stevenson

In smaller charities fundraising is often the responsibility of one (or less than one….) person sprinkled with as much time as the Chief Executive can spare.

But this set-up rarely matches the varied requirements and fluctuating demands of fundraising.

For a start there are different types of fundraising: sometimes you may need a community fundraiser or a corporate fundraiser or a bid writer or a specialist in statutory fundraising.

There are also different levels of expertise; sometimes you will want an experienced fundraiser to review your strategy or engage with very senior stakeholders; at other times you will need people to stuff envelopes or update databases.

And of course there are different levels of demand throughout the year.  Sometimes you will need to focus on getting bids out, at others you will need to organise events.

Blume makes it easier to cover all these requirements in a flexible way which means you only pay for support when you need it.  You are also able to develop ongoing relationships (as many charities already do) as you return to the Blumers you’ve used before for bid-writing or strategy advice or any of the other support you’ve received.  It is like having a virtual fundraising team on hand.

If you are interested in finding out how this could work for you in practice I'd be happy to hvae a chat.  So please email me directly (alexander@blume.life) or fix a time.
