Freelancers for charities

Partnership announcement: Blume and Carers Trust Join Forces

Organisations supporting unpaid carers across the UK will gain access to a pool of experienced senior charity freelancers at a discounted price under a new partnership between Blume and The Carers Trust Network aimed at addressing growing workforce pressures.

Under the partnership, the 135 members of the Carers Trust Network will be able to access senior, vetted charity freelancers for interim, part-time and project-based support, providing flexible help where organisations need it most.

The partnership has been launched in response to increasing pressure across the Carers Trust Network. More than 49% of the network say that costs, funding and capacity are their biggest challenges, with staffing pressures increasing, as there has been a 17% drop in staff numbers across the Carers Trust network over the last two years.

Freelancers available through the partnership have been selected for their experience working with charities similar to those in the Carers Trust Network and their ability to step in quickly and provide practical support. Initial support will focus on three priority areas identified through the Carers Trust network survey: fundraising, finance and CEO-level support.

We're delighted to be working with Scott Lafferty, Head of Networks Futures, on this project – together, we're ready to tackle the sector's challenges head-on:

"Carers Trust is delighted to partner with Blume and Blumers to provide our network of local carer charities the opportunities of accessing the expertise and experience of Blumers to support their charity development and resilience so that they continue to be fit for the future, and is one way our partnership is investing in the capacity of local carer charities to deliver high quality services close to home for unpaid carers".

Each Blumer has been selected by Blume, for their expertise and experience working with Carers Trust and charities similar to those in the Carers Trust network. They're not just skilled professionals; they're people who genuinely understand what it's like to work in small charities and are passionate about getting stuck in and getting the job done – people who can ease the burden. Alexander commented:

“Charities cannot fix capacity gaps by working smarter or harder.  This partnership gives the Carers Trust Network access to vetted freelancers they can trust when they need someone to get the job done. We hope this partnership will be a model for how the sector can better use the incredible talent it has to build the resilience and capacity of charities everywhere.”
